All of Living Well’s services are holistic in nature and designed to increase confidence, improve decision-making abilities, and enhance self-esteem. In Westminster, Living Well works in partnership with the RAIN Trust to run the Health Trainer service.
  • Rain Trust - The RAIN Trust is a voluntary organisation that provides care and health education to those living in London. Traditionally, RAIN has focused on supporting those living with, affected by and at risk from HIV in Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities, but in recent years the organisation has broadened it’s remit to work with people from all communities covering a range of health needs. In Westminster, RAIN works in partnership with Living Well to run the Health Trainer service.
  • Westminster Health Trainers - Funded by NHS Westminster and run by Living Well and the RAIN Trust , Westminster Health Trainers is a free service for anyone who needs support to improve their health and wellbeing. Health Trainers have been specially trained to support people in their community to make healthier lifestyle choices such as taking up regular exercise, eating a healthier diet, giving up smoking, drinking less alcohol each week or reducing stress levels.

  • Patient UK - A comprehensive source of patient information, Patient UK offers over 600 leaflets on health and disease and details of nearly 2000 patient support / self-help groups and similar organisations, as well as comprehensive information about medicines and advice on leading a healthy lifestyle.
  • Sounds healthy Launched by Sheffield, Leicester and Nottingham PCT's, the site gives health information in 8 languages in an audio and written format. The information covers the preventive aspects of heart disease, ie. healthy eating, exercise, high blood pressure, smoking, alcohol, stress, diabetes, TB, cervical screening and. mental health.

 

NHS Direct Telephone Service

Don't forget that personal healthcare advice is just a phone call away. NHS Direct operates a 24-hour nurse advice and health information service, providing confidential information on:

  • What to do if you or your family are feeling ill;
  • Particular health conditions;
  • Local healthcare services, such as doctors, dentists or late night opening pharmacies;
  • Self help and support organisations.
